Philadelphia Flyers star center Daniel Briere was hospitalized early Thursday morning after a Land Rover he was driving on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood struck a tractor trailer.

Briere was driving north on Route 81 in the passing lane at approximately 12:30 a.m. when he became drowsy and drifted to the right-hand lane, where it "side-swiped" a tractor trailer driven by Robert Azzarella, 52 of Ninevah, N.Y.

Police characterized Briere's injuries as "minor abrasions" to both of his arms. Briere, Azarella and Briere's nine-year-old son, Cameron, were all treated and released at Wilson Hospital Thursday.
